Update | Reacties uit F1-wereld op dood Marchionne: 'Groot verlies voor sport'

Inmiddels hebben coryfeeën uit de Formule 1-wereld gereageerd op het overlijden van Sergio Marchionne. De 66-jarige voormalige topman ging woensdagmorgen heen nadat hij bezweek onder complicaties van een schouderoperatie. Het was al een paar dagen bekend dat hij niet meer zou terugkeren als CEO van Ferrari.

'Dit is een trieste dag voor ons allemaal in de F1', reageert Toto Wolff op het droevige nieuws. 'We zijn een groot fan van onze sport verloren, een gewaagde concurrent. Onze grote sympathie gaat uit naar Sergio zijn familie en iedereen van Ferrari', luiden de mooie woorden van de Mercedes-baas.

Ook Chase Carey, CEO van de F1, heeft inmiddels gereageerd. 'We zijn diep bedroefd door het overlijden van Marchionne', laat de Amerikaan weten. 'Hij was niet alleen een groot leider in de Formule 1 en de automobiel industrie, maar ook wereldwijd op het gebied van ondernemen.'
